Vector Doubles is a fast-paced game of skill designed for the Atari 8-bit computers, where coordination and quick reflexes are key.
The game's dynamics are simple in appearance, but require total concentration. On a board with twenty columns, players must move back and forth to match the direction of the arrows that are rapidly falling from the top. To do so, they must hold down the fire button and, without releasing it, move the lever in the right direction. If they manage to match the direction of the arrow before it hits the ground, they earn a point.
But it's not all about arrows. Occasionally, little men, represented by smiley faces, will appear, offering an additional chance to score points. If a player catches one of these characters, they'll earn 5 points. And if both players manage to do so at the same time, the reward will be 10 points. However, every mistake has its cost: missing an arrow will cause you to lose 1 point, and failing to catch one of the men will result in a harsher penalty, subtracting 5 points from the scoreboard.
Although it can be enjoyed solo, its two-player co-op gameplay makes it an even more fun and challenging experience. Vector Doubles also keeps track of the best score achieved, adding a competitive edge for those who enjoy breaking personal records or challenging their friends.
Created by AtariAge forum user "Supurloop" using the cc65 cross-development package, Vector Bubbles stands out for its simple mechanics and collaborative approach, making it an excellent alternative for enjoying entertaining moments with family or friends.
