The summer edition of the Silly Venture 2024 festival kicked off today, August 15, in Gdansk, Poland, and will run until August 18. This event is particularly notable for celebrating the 35th anniversary of the ATARI STe computer, an important milestone for retro technology fans.
The festival programme includes technical talks such as "Programming on Atari 2600" by Peter "JAC" Dell; and "Infection stories - were there viruses on Atari?", with Krzysztof "Kaz" Ziembik. In addition, Jesse Burns will present the activities of the Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment (MADE).
During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in contests such as the "Dynabusters" for the Atari STE, designed for four players. Meanwhile, the developer competition categories will cover music, graphics, games and demos for various Atari consoles and computers, including VCS, XL/XE, ST/STe/TT, PoFo, Lynx, Falcon and Jaguar.
All submitted works will be freeware, and participants have agreed to have their creations published as part of "Silly Venture Packs" for the corresponding platforms. These collective packs will be published on September 1st.
