With the motto "committed to bringing you the best of the Atari world, one issue at a time," John Zielke has launched the first edition of the digital newsletter "Atari Insights"; packed with updates, game reviews and exclusive tips, all tailored for the passionate Atari 8-bit community.

This inaugural issue features an article that explores the relevance of skills acquired through Atari XL computers to today's information technology careers. It emphasizes that skills such as basic computer architecture, assembly language programming, and problem solving remain highly valued in the contemporary workplace.

    In addition, "Atari Insights" offers brief reviews of iconic games such as «River Raid» (Activision, 1982), «Blue Max» (Synapse Software, 1983), «Sea Wolf II» (Midway, 1983) and «Donkey Kong» (Atari, 1983), as well as recent productions such as «A-8» (2013), «Last Squadron» (2020) and «Galagish» (2024).

Also included are articles from Atari user newsletters from the 1980s, covering topics such as the differences between the NTSC and PAL TV standards, and tips on how to form an Atari user group.

The newsletter provides recommendations on best practices for using cassettes with Atari computers, including what type of tapes to use and how to keep them in good condition. There is also a section devoted to BASIC programming, which compares Microsoft BASIC and Atari BASIC, accompanied by a glossary of technical terms to help you understand the specialized language.

Finally, a list of websites and online stores is provided where enthusiasts can find Atari-related products, accessories and collectibles in 2024.

Zielke has announced that in the coming months he plans to enrich the content of the newsletter, with regular sections that will include a series on Turbo Basic, tips for better using Fujinet, guides on the Altirra emulator, among others.

We invite all Atari fans to register for free at the Atari Basics web so as not to miss any future editions of this laudable initiative.
