New features and improvements to the gaming experience are what the final version of the game “Mikie” for Atari 8-bit computers will offer.

Via the AtariAge forum, Krzysztof "Vega" Góra (Poland) has shared a series of video clips showing the new features of the port of the game originally released by Konami in 1984:

    • Score display for hearts: Points earned when Mikie collects hearts are now immediately displayed on the screen.
    • Interactive enemies: In the "Looker Room" level, enemies now dribble the basketball. Likewise, in the "The Canteen" stage, enemies can be seen eating the chicken.
    • Animated Aerobics Instructor: The trainer in the "Aerobic Room" now taps out the beat to the tune "Twist and Shout".
    • Extra lives: In the corridor between one scene and another a gift may appear, which will give you an additional life.
    • Animations in the final level: In the last stage, the clouds and the car are now animated.

Góra said that these updates are possible thanks to the 256 kB of memory available on the cartridge. This new edition of "Mikie" is expected to go on sale from next September.
