«Back to the River» revives the classic «River Raid» in 3D

Jacek "Yatchan" Mendyk (Poland) has developed «Back to the River», a 3D remake of the classic shoot’em up «River Raid» (Activision, 1983), available for Windows and Linux operating systems.
This remake offers a new three-dimensional perspective on the iconic shooter, with revamped graphics and gameplay. Players can control the plane with directional (arrow) keys or WASD; shoot with the space bar; change the camera with theC: use boosters with the keyZ; and pause the game with the keyP
Developed using the Godot engine and 3D models created in Blender, Back to the River is in an early stage of development. Yatchan invites players to send feedback and bug reports to improve the experience.
The original River Raid was created by Carol Shaw, one of the first female video game developers, and is known for its addictive gameplay and groundbreaking graphics for its time. The game challenges players to pilot a fighter jet through a river filled with enemies and obstacles, with the mission of destroying bridges and refueling as they go.
