On the AtariAge forum, a video has been revealed of the demo that could become the future port of «Limbo» (Playdead, 2010) for Atari 8-bit computers with a VBXE card.

The project started in December 2018, when Yaron Nir suggested bringing this dark and atmospheric platformer to the Atari XL/XE computers. “The discussion lasted for years, with many suggestions but no real progress,” says Vladimir “Popmilo” Janković, who shared the video of the demo.

"Over the past year, while I was working on Tony, Yaron was experimenting with VBXE and created this little tribute to Limbo," Janković adds, noting that they have yet to obtain approval from the creators of the original game.

Released in July 2010 for Xbox Live Arcade, Limbo is a 2D side-scrolling game in which you guide a young boy through a dangerous world in search of his sister. With its black-and-white visual style and eerie atmosphere, it has left an indelible mark on the video game industry.
For a change, some critics have criticized that few Atari 8-bit users own the VXBE card. "Popmilo" responds: "The Altirra+VBXE emulator is a legitimate platform to launch a good Atari game. It's the classic chicken and egg problem. If there were more new games, there would be more new hardware to buy. Coding in VBXE is easy and eliminates performance and graphics concerns. Consider doing it just for fun," he concluded.
