Atari enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as the upcoming release of the game “Mikie” for the Atari 8-bit computers has been announced.

At the helm of this exciting project is Krzysztof "Vega" Góra (Poland), leader of the team that has worked tirelessly to bring this unique experience to Atari gamers. Originally developed by Konami in 1984, "Mikie" became a hit in the arcades.

Due to its popularity, it was ported to several computer platforms, including the MSX, ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro/Acorn Electron, Commodore 64 and Amstrad CPC. However, there was never a version for the Atari 8-bit... until now!

The main character is a teenager determined to win over Mandy, the most popular girl at school. To do so, he ventures through different scenarios collecting hearts to form sentences and avoiding enemies that try to stop him.

The conversion process was no easy task, as Vega had to decipher the game's code step by step, without having access to the original sources. However, thanks to his previous experience in projects such as "Cyborg Warriors", he managed to overcome this challenge and is about to deliver a version based on the code for BBC Micro, but with significant graphical and musical improvements thanks to the Atari hardware.

The conversion team, which includes talented artists such as Krzysztof "KAZ" Ziembik and Michael "Miker" Szpilowski, has worked closely together to ensure that "Mikie" lives up to the expectations of Atari computer fans. Stay tuned for more details on the official unveiling of this exciting title!

✔ It is worth mentioning that in Japan this title was released under the name "Shinnyushain Tooru-kun" ("Toru, the rookie employee"), modifying the theme to avoid controversy in a school context.
