A new gem has arrived in the world of Atari computers with 8k RAM: "MazeZam".
Brought to you by user Tonma on the AtariAge forum, this remake of Malcolm Tyrrell's popular original puzzler for the ZX Spectrum (2002) promises to challenge your skills across 42 clever levels.
"This is my first time programming a game on an Atari 8-bit computer. I've had my 800XL for 40 years and it's time to work on it. I played 'MazezaM' on SNES and thought it would be a good game to try out," Tonma shared about his inspiration for the project.

The main goal of this development was to understand the hardware and see how much data could be stored on the original Atari 400 version with only 8k RAM, before creating a more complex game.
"MazeZam" offers simple sound effects when you move a box and immerses you in a captivating experience throughout its 42 unique levels, each with its own name. All this in a program that takes up only 8 KB of RAM, showing the impressive potential of the Atari 8-bit platform.
To start the adventure, simply press START and use the "r" key during gameplay to restart the level and continue challenging your wits.

"MazeZam" is reminiscent of the classic Sokoban by Thinking Rabbit, Inc. - which already has versions on various platforms such as Commodore 64, Oric, Gameboy, Java and Mac OS.
In August 2012, Krzysztof "xxl" Dudek developed a version for the Atari 8-bit, demonstrating the popularity and versatility of this addictive puzzle game on different systems.
