An innovative addition has arrived to the repertoire of Atari 8-bit computers with «Plazmoid 1k», a demo created by Karolj "Heaven/TQA" Nadj from Germany.

The program is notable for its code, which was originally designed for the Commodore 64; and which now runs in the Atari computer environment in a "sandbox" - that is, in a protected and controlled environment within the Atari 8-bit computer, without affecting the general operation of the system.

Nadj describes his creation as an "interpretation" of the original demo developed by Hokuto Force for the C64. The idea came to life after the retro event Revision 2024: "We Are Many", held from March 29 to April 1 this year in the German district of Saarbrücken, Saarland state.

It is important to note that the demo only works correctly on computers and/or emulators with the PAL standard.

AtariAge forum users report that the program runs without problems on the Altirra and Atari800MacX emulators running AltirraOS. It also runs on real hardware, such as the 600XL, 130 XE, and 1200XL with U1M memory expansions.

Without a doubt, “Plazmoid 1k” is a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of the Atari community, once again demonstrating the continued innovation on this classic 8-bit computer platform.
