Persistence and passion for preserving classic video games has paid off with the discovery of the Polish version of the game «Kaiser» for Atari 8-bit computers.
This German strategy game - considered one of the best simulation games of its time - was published by Ariolasoft in 1984. Similar to the classic "Hammurabi", it immerses players in the world of kingdom management in the year 1700; adding a graphic component that distinguished it from other versions.
Indeed, “Kaiser” challenges players to trade, manage social and economic aspects, and rise through the social hierarchy to achieve the title of king. Strategy and diplomacy are essential to ensure the security of the state and to advance in the construction of its palace, which is the pinnacle of success in the game.

Despite the existence of German and Czech versions on the Internet, the Polish version has remained a myth until now. The only clue to it was a review in AVAX Magazine from December 1990. Fortunately, during a recent Christmas search, a floppy disk marked "Kaiser" caught the attention of user Ataripuzzle from the Polish forum site Atari Online.
According to Maciej "Krap" Grzeszczukon his blog, the diskette comes from a point of sale in the SDH Feniks shopping centre (Warsaw), a usual place for purchasing games for Polish users and which no longer exists today.

The diskette image has been preserved using the Kryoflux method and is available for download. It is recommended to load the game without pressing the OPTION function key, to ensure that the Atari BASIC interpreter, in which the game is written, is enabled.
The digital preservation of the Polish version of Kaiser not only enriches the repertoire of Atari 8-bit games, but also allows the history of video games in Poland to continue to be written.
