The version of «MyJewels», developed by Ralf "PPs" Patschke and musically converted by Christian "Buddy" Duesterhoeft for «New Year's Disk 2024», improves on the original version presented at Silly Venture 2023 WE; reinventing it as a completely new game, worthy of the title «MyJewels 2».

This match-3 style game is not just an improved version with bug fixes, but a completely different experience, significantly expanding on the original 16kB game presented at the Polish retrofestival.

With up to 12 different types of jewels and four different game modes, MyJewels´ NYD24 offers an impressive variety that keeps players hooked. MyJewels' mode introduces a progressive jewel unlocking system, increasing in complexity and interest as players accumulate points.
Another innovative mode is the “Time Hunt,” which offers a thrilling race against the clock. This mode challenges players to be fast and accurate, with the chance to earn extra time for removing more than 3 jewels simultaneously. The time penalty for mistakes increases the tension and strategy required, making every move count.

The "eliminate" mode is perhaps the most challenging, as players race against time to remove a special jewel a specific number of times. This mode requires not only speed but also tactics, as the number of jewels to remove increases progressively. The opportunity to gain extra time adds an additional element of strategy and excitement.

On the other hand, the ability to save high scores to disk - when running from a real DOS, such as DOS 2.5 or uDOS - is another significant improvement, allowing players to keep track of their achievements and compete for higher scores. This element of competition adds an additional motivation to replay the game.

This version notably supports a wide range of hardware configurations, including NTSC, PAL, 60Hz, 50Hz, and both single and double POKEY. This versatility ensures that a wide range of Atari 8-bit fans can enjoy the game without worrying about the compatibility limitations of their systems.

The intro and title songs, adapted by Duesterhoeft, provide a rich and immersive atmosphere, elevating the gaming experience to a new level. These melodies, together with the enhanced gameplay, make “MyJewels NYD24” a complete audiovisual experience.

In short, “MyJewels” NYD24 not only far surpasses its predecessor in terms of gameplay and audio, but also introduces novel features and game modes that establish it as a unique experience in itself.
