In the world of video games, nostalgia always finds its way back. This year, the first FujiCup will be held, a competition organised by Polish fans of Atari 8-bit computers with the aim of encouraging developers of games for this legendary platform.
The competition will award two prizes: the Jury Prize and the Public Prize. These awards will be given in cash and in kind; their value will depend on the contributions of the sponsors and the community involved in the competition.
To date, the jury’s prize pool amounts to 4,679 Polish zlotys – equivalent to around 1,100 USD. The panel of experts consists of Wojtek “Bocianu” Bocianski, Adam “Borsuk” StÄ™pieÅ„, Arkadiusz “Larek” Lubaszka, PaweÅ‚ “Sikor” Sikorski, and Roman “Nekroskop” Gorczyca, among others. Each jury member will evaluate the games in three categories: innovation (originality/idea); setting (music/graphics/acting); and gameplay (replayability/fun). Using a scale of 1 to 10 points, the jurors assign a score to each game in the competition.
The Audience Award, on the other hand, is made up of all payments made by people who participate in the voting. In addition, anyone who makes a contribution exceeding the minimum amount (5 Polish zlotys) acquires the right to vote. Currently, the audience award prize pool amounts to 1958 PLN.
The top three winners will receive special recognition and will be rewarded based on their final positions: first place will receive 60% of the prize pool; second place 30%; and third place 10%.
Public voting is scheduled to take place from January 15th to February 1st, 2024. Participants have been carefully selected by the event organizers and are listed on the official FujiCup website at"List of games" section
