Eric "The Ecg Man" Carr surprises us with «Jumpman», a unique game inspired by the classic «Super Mario Bros.» (Nintendo, 1985) for Atari 8-bit computers.
The protagonist moves horizontally across the stage, and must jump from one platform to another while avoiding the holes. The game features attractive graphics, impeccable animation and addictive action - almost identical to the original, except for the absence of enemies and powerups.
Carr has entered "Jumpman" into the EXTREME-256 category of the twelfth edition of NOMAM's BASIC Ten-Liners 2023; the annual competition that seeks the best game programmed with a maximum of ten (10) lines of code in BASIC.
As in previous editions, participants will be able to compete in the categories “PUR-80” (each line of code with a maximum of 80 characters); “PUR-120” (maximum 120 characters per logical line); and “EXTREME-256” (maximum 256 characters per line).
Additionally, a "SHOW" category has been created for demos, tools and non-recreational applications with a limit of 256 characters per line. To date, "Jumpman" is the only title exclusive to Atari 8-bit computers.
The deadline for submitting entries is Saturday, March 25 at 18:00 (GMT). To date, there are 50 games for different 8-bit systems. To meet the other contestants, you can visitVisit the official website of NOMAM's BASIC Ten-Liners 2023
