Graphical improvements, new fonts and sound effects are among the new features in "Scorch," a war game for Atari 8-bit computers.

AsWe reported months ago in Atariteca, Tomasz "Pecus" Pecko and Pawel "Pirx" Kalinowski (Poland) have resumed their project to port the PC game «Scorched Earth» after a hiatus of almost two years.

The latest revision of the game has added sound effects created by renowned musician Michal "Miker" Szpilowski, as well as a new text font designed by Adam Wachowski.

Scorch now offers a "Seppuku" option, allowing tanks embarrassed by their performance to turn the weapon on themselves. Riot Charge, Riot Blast, and Liquid Dirt weapons have also been added.

Meanwhile, non-existent weapons are no longer offered in the game menu, there are background lines simulating a gradient, and the game memorizes player names for subsequent matches.

Finally, various bugs were fixed and the memory map was optimized to free up more than 9KiB of RAM.
