Jason "GodLikeMouse" Graves shares "Dungeoneer", an adventure game for Atari 8-bit computers developed with the MADS assembler.
You must explore the interior of a castle, collect coins, pick up keys to activate doors and avoid spiders, traps and other dangers. «Dungeoneer» stands out for the fluid movement of its characters.
Throughfrom the AtariAge forumGraves recalls that he used to program on Atari computers when he was a kid. "At one time, I used BASIC; but of course, I found it extremely limited. Recently, I wanted to get back into the Atari and decided to learn 6502 assembler. To help me learn, I decided to build a game."
He said he took the idea from the sets and the top-down perspective of avideo from Ed Salisbury's channel"The rest was just trial and error until I got something decent looking (...) I've really enjoyed learning how the system works at this level. A few frustrations along the way - of course, that comes with mistakes. But overall, a great experience," he stressed.
