    After 11 years, JarosÅ‚aw "Odyn1ec" WyszyÅ„ski (Poland) resumed the development of «Bloody Planet», a game for Atari 8-bit computers inspired by the popular «Alien Breed» (Team17, 1991).

This is a successful series of top-down shooter games, made for Amiga and PC in the 1990s, and which is based on the classic film "Aliens".

According to Krzysztof "KAZ" Ziembikon the AtariOnline portal, Wyszyński has convinced prolific programmer Janusz "Shanti77" Chabowski to revive his project.

In a 2011 article, Ziembik says he received a preliminary version of Bloody Planet, which was missing some code, graphics and music. Unfortunately, Wyszyński and Radosław Pilski (the original programmer) abandoned the game after they could not find anyone interested in publishing it.

"Odyn1ec" says that the game is being rewritten and redrawn from scratch, as no source code from the old version has survived. He also says that the levels differ in appearance, but also in the way of completing them. In addition, the game will have a wide variety of weapons, power-ups and enemies to shoot at.

For his part, "Shanti77" reveals that the current version is based primarily on a sprite engine working in Antic 5 (GR.13, square pixels, 5 colors) with gear sprites and movement in all directions. "I've already made a sprite editor and I'm now working on creating a level editor in Delphi that will make it easier to test things," he added.

Meanwhile, "KAZ" is enthusiastic about the future of the project, which he supported from the very beginning. "This is the potential for a great success on the Atari platform! Not only because a capable programmer like Shanti77 was chosen for the dynamic and multi-object engine, but also because the graphics were taken over by one of the best, if not the best, graphics creator for Atari (Odyn1ec). The game will be in its original style (...) it will be more colorful and modernized," he concluded.

Obviously, the music that accompanies the video is not from an Atari 8-bit. Wyszyński used the tune "Oriontile - Angry Beat4h" by Dark Kolobok, which can be foundAvailable on the SoundClick portal.
