The turn-based tactics video game Laser Squad, originally released for ZX Spectrum computers by Blade Software (1988), will have a version for Atari XL / XE series computers.

The player controls an assault squad, whose members are maneuvered one at a time, with a top-down perspective. You must complete different rescue or object recovery missions; or simply eliminate all enemies using a variety of weapons.

According to the video shared by Krzysztof "xxl" Dudek in the AtariAge forum, the project is led by Mariusz "Mariuszw" Wojcieszek (Poland); who reappears on the Atarian scene after some years.
The video description states that this port in development runs on an Atari computer with standard 64K memory, although equipped with the VBXE graphics card - which gives it high-resolution color graphics.

The menu features all seven scenarios from the extended version of Laser Squad: The Assassins, Moonbase Assault, Rescue from the Mines, The Cyber Hordes, Paradise Valley, The Stardrive and Laser Platoon. It also supports two players, with the use of a joystick and/or keyboard.

Following a controversy regarding the similarities with the port of «Attack of the PETSCII Robots» Dudek also posted a video with the low-resolution graphics version, created by Zdeněk "PG" Eisenhammer (Czech Republic).

    It is worth remembering that Wojcieszek has in his file the ports for Atari 8-bits of titles such as «Bobby Bearing»(Edge, 1986); «Fairlight»(Edge, 1985); «Gunfright»(Ultimate Play the Game, 1985); «Jack the Nipper»(Gremlin Graphics, 1986); «Saboteur!»(Durell Software, 1986); «The Great Escape»(Ocean, 1986); and «Total Eclipse»(Incentive Software, 1988).
