FujiNet device users can now post their high scores on Atari 8-bit games on theHi Score Cafe website
Wojtek "Bocianu" Bocianski (Poland) developed this tool so that the Atari XL/XE series computer can register -with username and password- on the server managed by Krzysztof "xxl" Dudek.
Once connected, we can add our records manually or delete our previous results. Bocianski's program records an "authorization token" on theFujiNet SD card, automatically.
As explainedin the AtariAge forumThis token works in a similar way to cookies in Internet browsers, with the difference that the information is linked to the device. "This mechanism works as a small database of key values stored in FujiNet and accessible as a special SIO device," he told Atariteca.
"When we play, that (token) will allow us to save the score on the network; our score will be automatically sent to the HSC server in the background, if the token is found."
The routine -which takes up less than 100 bytes- was written in Mad-Pascal. Those interested can access the technical documentation from theGitLab repository of "Bocianu"It is worth remembering that a year ago Bocianski developedan application that allows you to know the current weather statusand weather forecasting from an Atari 8-bit computer.
The Hi Score Cafe (HSC) features high score rankings for nearly 20 titles, including classics like “Alley Cat,” “Frogger,” “Moon Patrol,” “Mr. Robot,” and “Pooyan” as well as contemporary games like “BosconianDeathChase XELauraPac-MadPang" and "Stunt Car Racer
It also offers a banner system that allows users to generate an image with the name of the game, their highest score, and their position in the player ranking.
