Better graphics and music, as well as faster loading times, are brought to us in the new version of Night Rescue 1941 for Atari 8-bit computers.

Brothers Robert and Eric Anschuetz, together with their friend John Weisgerber, published this revision of the original, which they sold 37 years ago to "Compute!" magazine - but which never saw the light of day.

"That (original) BASIC game took almost a minute to run, plus it had hundreds of DATA statements that would have been tedious and error-prone," they explained on the AtariAge forum.

The new version, written in assembly language, offers a much better gaming experience, as it has multi-color graphics from Antic 4 mode, along with RMT music and sound effects.

«Night Rescue 1941» places us in World War II, on a night mission to rescue Allied spies in hostile territory. Aboard a hot air balloon, we must avoid enemy planes to reach the landing pads without crashing; a task that is complicated by the fact that the balloon is constantly moving.

As we reported weeks ago, the same authors had already publishedA new version of SokobanThey plan to launch new games over the next six months.
