Visualize sorting algorithms on Atari 8-bit with SortViz

User Amarok submitted SortViz, an application that allows us to visualize a variety of sorting algorithms on an Atari 8-bit computer.

As explained on the AtariAge forum, the program shows each read and write access to data during shuffling using green and red markers on the left and right side of the data area.

The current number of read and write operations is also displayed. It is also possible to change the processing speed, decreasing or increasing the delay, and even pause and resume processing.

SortViz offers two ways to present data: as a set of horizontal lines - representing the stored numbers - or through the image itself. The user can switch between both views by pressing the TAB key.

Additionally, it is possible to run all sorting algorithms in a sequence for demonstration purposes by pressing the Return key. The application includes 16 algorithms: insertion sort, selection sort, merge sort, gnome sort, circle sort, even-odd sort, bitonic sort, quick sort, and more.

In addition, there are different methods available for merging data. SortViz must be started with BASIC disabled. It should be noted that this is the second Amarok program written in MadPascal - the first wasGr9Lab, a simplified version of Photoshop for Atari computers

"In the coming days I would like to increase the number of sorting algorithms. So, if you want, you can post your suggestions here - even with the source codes," he concluded on the AtariAge forum.
