Sokoban 2021, a new puzzle game for Atari 8-bit computers, offers more than fifty levels with multicoloured graphics and pleasant melodies.
The program was originally published in 1988, written in BASIC language by the team formed by brothers Robert and Eric Anschuetz together with their friend John Weisgerber.
"Each level loaded as a separate file on disk and also allowed high scores to be saved. This was all pretty impressive for an Atari BASIC game," Robert recalls on the AtariAge forum.
Thanks to Eric's interest, the new version of Sokoban was written in 6502 language, and its authors have just released it 100% free as a single executable in XEX format, with 54 complete levels.
Finally, Anschuetz announced that additional updated assembly language versions of the games they developed in the 1980s will be released in the coming weeks and months.
