Large, colorful characters stand out in the first images released of the sequel to "Kowalsky's Fury" for Atari 8-bit computers.
Speaking to Atariteca, Polish programmer Kamil "Gorgh" Trzaska explains that Kowalsky's Fury 2 uses a different graphics engine than the original, where sprites move with character precision.
"This way of drawing graphics has many advantages: you can have large sprites, since only one sprite is drawn during a frame; there is no limit to "tiles", since everything is done in bitmap graphics; and animation frames only need one piece of data for each frame, with no bit-by-bit sprite change."

The fluid animation runs over 10 frames, which obviously takes up quite a bit of memory. However, Trzaska says he has managed to package the code and data so that "Kowalsky's Fury 2" runs on an Atari computer with 64kb of RAM.
On the other hand, he explains that the sequel has a different gameplay dynamic to the first edition. "This new game is a typical platformer, where you advance to the right and kill (...) It is a tribute to "Invasion of the Zombie Monsters", my favourite game on the ZX Spectrum and MSX; so it is very inspired by it."
Finally, he informs us that the game is almost ready and only the music by Michal «Caruso» Brzezicki remains to be added. «Gorgh» plans to register it in the Atari Bit Byter User Club - ABBUC 2021 retro contest. It is worth remembering that Kowalsky's Fury took theSecond place at ABBUC 2018 with 384 points.
