Vaults of Nhyrmeth playable demo for Atari

A level with several types of enemies, inventory, statistics and automatic mapping system is what "Vaults of Nhyrmeth" brings us, a first-person adventure game for Atari 8-bit computers.
In this playable demo, programmed solo by "clth" (Czech Republic), you must traverse deep underground caverns, find items and fight strange beasts.
Surviving is a challenge, as you need to have enough health, magic, stamina and food to attack the vermin that inhabit this labyrinth.
To keep you from getting lost, you have a compass in the middle of the screen that always points north. At the bottom, there is an indicator that shows you the current action and the space in your inventory that is in use - you have three slots. By the way, the first slot is for a physical weapon; the others are for spells.

As for controls, use the W, A, S, and D keys to move the hero north, west, south, and east, respectively. The space bar activates doors, levers, etc.; the Enter key uses your weapon or casts a spell; and TAB is used to enter/exit the inventory. You can also save and/or load your state at any time during the game.
Through the AtariAge forum, "clth" relates that he started his project in 2019, using Mad Pascal and basically in text mode, with encoded character sets. However, in April 2020 he decided to do it again in CC65 - much more flexible when grouping binary data and handling memory layout - and a bit of assembly language.

"Vaults of Nhyrmeth" requires a computer with at least 48K and access to a floppy disk drive (or emulation of such hardware). Additionally, BASIC must be disabled to run properly.
