New videos and information about seven of the 13 games competing in the ABBUC 2020, a prestigious retro contest organized by the Atari Bit Byter User Club (Germany).

    Agent B.R.D.

Florian “FlorianD” Dingler brings us this strategy game, based on the classic USA Agent (Scholastic, Inc., 1984). This time, you must travel through 127 cities in Germany (BRD is the German abbreviation for FRG, Federal Republic of Germany) to stop a crazy smartphone that makes people stupid. You will have to collect Wi-Fi symbols and cell phone batteries to power your phone, which will give you clues about the villain’s location.

Dingler revealed on the Atari Age forum that the game will be released in a collector's edition on diskette, which will be sold in a box with an instruction booklet, an identity card, maps and other souvenirs. Agent B.R.D. also has versions in German, Dutch, Polish and French, and is also being translated into Russian, Czech, Italian and Spanish.

    The Lady

Filippo “Philsan” Santellocco (code and graphics) makes his debut in the ABBUC competition with this unique shooter set in the Wild West.

You play as a fierce gunslinger - known as "The Lady" - who must test her reflexes to defeat three outlaws and survive. In this case, you'll have to press the right key before the enemy shoots you.

«Thanks to the 16 shades of single-color graphics mode, I decided to make the game look like old western movies, in black and white, and a softly designed background,» explains Santellocco, who also highlights the use of the Atari 8-bit widescreen to simulate the «cinemascope» technique.

This project includes Konstantinos "TIX" Giamalidis (graphics and sprites), Michal "miker" Szpilowski (music), and Daniel "dsmc" Serpell (additional code).

    Oxygene Be/Part #2

The sequel to the Uridium-clone side-scrolling shooter from Lars "T.A.T" Langhans is here. You must destroy different sections of a spaceship and meet a quota of enemy ships shot down. 64Kb of RAM is required to run it.

    Disc o’ Pop

Christian “Irgendwer” Krüger presents a port of “Gimme Friction Baby”, an award-winning strategy and skill game originally from Wouter Visser.

You need to make the spheres collide to destroy them, without them bouncing off the dotted line.

    Dr. Sparkz

Michal Czepulkowski (code, title screen), Petr “FLY” Svoboda (graphics) and ZdenÄ›k “PG” Eisenhammer (music) are coming to ABBUC with this Tetris-style game.

Collect points by connecting the red side of the pieces with the blue side. When both sides are connected, the blocks will be removed and you will earn points as a reward.

    Flamingo Flagging

A reflex game by Florian "FlorianD" Dingler, where you have to touch the flamingos when they shake their legs.

    Twiddles!

To close the list, we return with Lars "T.A.T" Langhans and this demo with fifty characters that move on screen, without blinking at all.

Recall that we have previously reviewed the shooters Persistent by Kamil “Gorgh” Trzaska and Last Squadron by Janusz “Shanti77” Chabowski; as well as Detonationix by Martin “MatoSimi” Å imecek; Go Lucky by Ralf “PPs” Patschke; They are many by Vladimir “popmilo” Jankovic; and Tree Simulator 4k by Trzaska. This year’s voting meeting will take place on November 14.
