Atari: Real-time weather information with FujiNet

Get the current weather and forecast for the week from your Atari computer, thanks to the FujiNet device.
Thomas Cherryhomes (United States), who leads the FujiNet project, explained to Atariteca that it is an application developed by Wojtek "Bocianu" Bocianski (Poland) for Atari 8-bit computers.
The FujiNet weather app works through two web services (API): the first one takes the user's geographic location from their IP address at https://ipstack.com/; and secondly, it sends the data to the website https://openweathermap.org to obtain the weather information.
The results obtained in JSON format are processed by the app, written in MAD Pascal, and displayed graphically - through icons and fonts developed by Boczansky himself.

Cherryhomes points out that no software needs to be downloaded or installed on the Atari machine. “As a network adapter, FujiNet boots directly from the Internet.”
For his part, «Bocianu» highlighted that his program allows us to check the weather conditions in our area and in any other area, worldwide; for this, it is enough to press the «SELECT» key and define a different location.

You can also press the “U” key to switch from metric to imperial units and vice versa. As if that weren’t enough, the app shows the weather forecast for the first four days; and the “N” key moves to the next page to complete the week.
"The app is fully functional now, it may need to add just a few visual improvements, such as wind direction in the forecast or the probability of rain," Bocianski told Atariteca.
