Konstantinos "TIX" Giamalidis (Greece) improved various graphical aspects of the classic adventure game Pitfall II: Lost Caverns (Activision, 1982) for Atari computers.
The most notable thing, without a doubt, is the change in the animation of the explorer Pitfall Harry: the protagonist now has a fluid animation when running.
"It was a struggle to rebuild it. Starting with the existing animation cycle, I drew countless frames to end up with what I considered the best. Unfortunately, the fixed color strips didn't allow me to use up-and-down movements in his gait," explains TIX.
TIX also pixel-edited Rhonda, Harry's niece, and Quicklaw, the cowardly lion, whom Harry must rescue. "Every single sprite has been fine-tuned (some more than others). The hardest part was staying within the fixed color ranges and keeping the sprite sizes so that they didn't break the game," TIX explained.
Additionally, the hack includes adjustments to the appearance of other elements such as the rat, the balloon string and the gold bars; apart from redesigning other characters such as the piranhas and termites.

Similarly, TIX changed the mysterious explorer included in the XL/XE series version - called Adventurer's Edition - and whose attire resembled the rapper McHammer.
"I haven't been able to get to the end of the game to see the ending sequence with the new sprites; it's too difficult for me, even with thesave states", he told Atariteca.
It should be remembered that TIX has to its credit thehack to Moon Patrol, classic horizontal shoot'em up; as well as the one inPole Position racing game
