After a hiatus of more than four years, Mark "atarimac" Grebe updated Atari800MacX, his port of the Atari800 emulator for Macintosh computers running Mac OS X.

Since the release of MacOS Sierra, some of the core features used by Atari800MacX have become obsolete; as a result, the emulator no longer had sound nor could it switch to full-screen mode. The revision of Atari800MacX addresses these issues.

Via the AtariAge forum, Grebe explains that he now uses the new version of libSDL 2.0 on the Atari800MacX, so the emulator is less likely to be affected by Apple's constant changes to its APIs.

Grebe thanked Paulo "pedgarcia" Garcia, co-founder of theVintage is the New Old website, who solved the audio problem.

As if that weren't enough, "atarimac" uploaded the Atari800MacX 5.0 binaries and source code toa GitHub accountso that anyone can contribute improvements to the project.

It should be noted that the port uses version 1.3.2 of theAtari800 emulatorIn this post we explainHow to install and configure Atari800MacX
