Over 180 pages with reviews of 34 games each is what Brian Matherne (USA) offers us in the two volumes of "The Atari 2600 Homebrew Companion".
These are two books that compile a wealth of information about "homemade" software - that is, software developed unofficially by enthusiastic programmers - for the Atari VCS console from 1995 to 2018.
Among those featured in the first volume are: Assembloids 2600, Defend your Castle, Halo 2600, Juno First, Lady Bug, Happy, Princess Rescue, Scramble, Zippy the Porcupine; and in the second volume, 34 games from 24 cartridges and downloaded ROMs are covered such as Donkey Kong VCS, Gauntlet VCS, Nxion 3D, Rally-X, Skee-Ball.
"Each title is given the attention it deserves, with screenshots and a detailed description (...) with plenty of information about its development and publication," Matherne points out.
The standard edition is sold printed in black and white on beige paper for USD 12.99, while the deluxe edition, in full color, is sold for USD 30.99. In addition, it is also available in electronic version (eBook) for Kindle for USD 3.99.
