Atari: Laura, winner of Kaz Kompo 2016

Laura, a remarkable adventure and logic game, has been declared the winner of the Golden Emblem of the 11th Kaz Kompo 2016 - an annual ranking of Atari 8-bit games organized by the Polish portal AtariOnline.pl.
As we have mentioned before The game was developed by Arkadiusz "Larek" Lubaszka (code), together with Paweł "Ripek" Szewczyk (graphics) and Bartłomiej "Wieczor" Wieczorkowski (music).
Laura, which earned 590 points, combines adventure and puzzles; it takes place within complex tombs and pyramids, where the explorer must locate ancient masks and face the attack of various enemies.
Currently, it has versions in English, German and Russian, in addition to the original Polish. Versions in French, Italian and Spanish are expected to be released soon.
The silver emblem was for Pang, a notable port of the arcade game published by Mitchell Corporation in 1989 with 536 points.
The project was started in 2007 and involved programmer Tomasz "Tebe" Biela; Kamil "Vidol" Walaszek, Adam "Ooz" Powroznik and Maciej "Rocky" Hauke (graphics); and renowned Michal "stRing" Radecki (music). It is worth remembering that it took first place at the Silly Venture 2016 retrofestival.
And the copper emblem was for AtariBlast!, addictive shoot'em upCreated by Paul "Playsoft" Lay (programming) and Harvey A. Kong Tin (graphics), with contributions from renowned musician Michal "Miker" Szpilowski.
The shooter, which racked up 377 points, has everything any good player of the genre could wish for: a dynamic pace; a wide variety of weapons and power-ups; and scenarios that pay homage to various Atari computer games such as Rescue on Fractalus, Blue Max, Zaxxon, Laser Hawk, Space Invaders and Dropzone, among others.
Rounding out the top ten are: 4. Dimo's Dungeon (349 points); 5. Manic Miner (336 points); 6. Blowsub (236 points); 7. Saboteur (234 points); 8. Jim Slide XL (197 points); 9. Cyctriks (168 points) and 10. Skyscraper (164 points).
The The full list of Kaz Kompo 2016 includes a total of 61 titlesA total of 84 voters participated, via the AtariOnline.pl website and also from the AtariAge forum. Each user was able to give a maximum of ten (10) points to their favorite and the voting closed on Friday, December 22nd.
