This week an image of «MUSCLE», a port of Bandai's original 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) game for Atari 8-bit computers, was published.

"Tag Team Match: M.U.S.C.L.E.", the full name of the game, is based on the characters of Kinnikuman ("Muscle Man" in Japanese), a manga and anime series by the duo Yudetamago (Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada) published in the early 1980s.

"99% of the graphics programming is finished, as is the programming for the fighters' movements, as well as the horizontal movement of the screen," explained Atarian Jinroh.

He noted that he has only been able to make progress in his spare time; fortunately, he recently wrote a program that helps him convert NES graphics to the Atari. As he shows, he shared a series of videos on the AtariAge forum

In the NES game, there are eight characters to choose from, each with a special move. In the case of the Atari port, the next step will be to add gameplay dynamics.

It should be noted that the Seanbaby websiteplaced “M.U.S.C.L.E” at number 13 of the 20 worst NES games.
