Ingo "1NG" Boller released this Christmas Eve "Jim Slide XL", an extended version of his game that won the Atari Bit Byter User Club - ABBUC 2015 retro contest.
Boller highlights that thisNew edition of “Jim Slide”It features screenshots created by a professional artist; clips with digitalized voices; POKEY dual stereo sound; a font specially designed for the game; and even some easter eggs.
In addition to the classic Time Attack, Adventure and Arcade modes, the program debuts a new difficulty selection system for the Story mode - where the protagonist must go to the rescue of his sister Jessica: easy, fair, advanced, hard and crazy!
Through the AtariAge forum,"1NG" mentions that «Jim Slide XL»It took a full year of work, during which time it received support from numerous well-known Atarean enthusiasts such as Thomas “8Bitjunkie” Schulz, Gunnar "Bunsen" Kanold, Marc "Sleepy" Brings, Martin “Matosimi” Šimecek, among others, who contributed new levels for the Adventure mode.
Also notable is the involvement of musician Mark "Poison" Pesout, who composed seven different tunes for the game. In addition, Boller did not hesitate to hire the services of artist Darsys, whose drawings were digitized thanks to the participation of Mario "130XE" Henning.
Another novelty is the option to record progress in Adventure mode, for which the author received the collaboration of Hias, a member of the team that developed theTHE!CART multi-mode cartridge; and Avery "Phaeron" Lee, creator of theAltirra emulator
Boller says that as the program grew beyond 64k, it required multiple revisions and ROM remapping, and he also had to develop his own C# application to link graphics, sound, and gameplay.
Coming soon, there will be a cartridge and box version for collectors: it will be a limited edition, with numbered holograms and exclusive stickers, as well as source files, schematics and a commemorative polo shirt.
«Jim Slide XL» requires running from a 1MB cartridge and using the Atari OS V2 operating system. The download file can be used on the Altirra, Atari800 and Atari800WinPLus emulators.For it to work, the downloaded file must be renamed without the TXT extension
