Peter J. Meyer recently published the teaser for «HeliCommander», a commercial game in development for Atari 8-bit computers.
This is a horizontally moving combat helicopter, with which you must destroy targets on the ground - similar to the classic “Choplifter!”(Brøderbund Software, 1982).
The most notable thing is the background, which moves with an interesting parallax scrolling effect; that is, it moves at a different speed than the rest of the elements on the screen, thus generating a sensation of 3D depth.
Meyer anticipates that the company Video 61will sell its game in cartridge form for Atari 400/800 and XL/XE series computers with a minimum of 48K RAM. In all cases, the game can be played with a joystick and keyboard.
