Steve "Snicklin" Nicklin shared a trick to skip levels in the recently releasedport of «Manic Miner»for Atari 8-bit computers.
At any time during the game, enter the following number:6031769. If done correctly, a shoe icon will appear in the bottom left corner of the screen - in front of the life counter.
Then, to choose a specific level, press the numbers and letters according to the following order:
1 - Central Cavern
2 - The Cold Room
3 - The Menagerie
4 - Abandoned Uranium Workings
5 - Eugene's Lair
6 - Processing Plant
7 - The Vat
9 - Wacky Amoebatrons
0 - The Endorian Forest
Q - Attack of the Mutant Telephones
E - Ore Refinery
U - The Warehouse
Or Solar Power Generator I - Amoebatrons Revenge
8 - Miner Willy meets the Kong Beast
W - Return of the Alien Kong Beast
P - The Final Barrier
R - Skylab Landing Bay
T - The Bank
Y - The Sixteenth Cavern
Additionally, the game can be paused by pressing the A key. And to toggle the music on and off, press the H key. You can see the game in action in this video by Terrence "Tezz" Derby - the main person responsible for the port to the Atari XL/XE computers.
It should be noted that this is the same trick valid for the original game on the ZX Spectrum (Bug-Byte version, 1983).
