Prizes worth a total of 3,410 euros are what the 14th edition of the Atari Bit Byter User Club - ABBUC retro contest brings us.

"We've basically doubled the prizes," said Sascha "Skr" Skriegel -organizer of the retro contest- via the AtariAge Forum

He said that this year there will be two categories: Games and Applications. The programs in the competition must be able to run on a conventional Atari XL/XE computer (i.e. without memory expansion or other modifications).

Likewise, programs that only run on emulators will not be accepted. The first place in each category will be awarded 500 euros in cash.

But ABBUC will not only recognise software design, but will also award prizes to those who develop new hardware. "The rules for this year have changed; the conditions for participation are the same, but the qualification method has been improved," says Skriegel.

In the case of hardware, the first place winner of the devices or accessories developed to completion will receive 500 euros, and the first place winner of those still in development will receive 100 euros.

In all cases, the deadline for registering works is July 31. For more information, you can read the competition rules(in English) in PDF format.
