AtariAge forum user Joe Ventura shared photos of his Atari 800 computer, which he has covered in a thin sheet of gold.
Ventura claims that the computer is not spray-painted gold. Several users praised the computer's redecoration; however, other forum users questioned it.
"It would look nice if the foil weren't (inevitably) wearing out and peeling off little by little (...) It reminds me of Arab culture, where everything is made of gold as a certain status symbol," were some of the comments recorded regarding these photos.
Among those who were in favor were users who recalled the bejeweled Atari 1200XL that was made as a promotional piece. "It definitely doesn't compare to the Atari 800," they said.
