    The first version of the multi-tasking Graphical Operating System (GOS) for Atari 8-bit computers is now available for download.


    Through the AtariAge forum,Jonathan "flashjazzcat" Hallidaypublished theROM filewhich must be mounted on a1 Mbit MaxFlash cartridge. Likewise, it is requiredST mouseto use it normally.


    Halliday explains that hisworking demoallowsStarting multiple instances of the Profiler(for example Task Manager) andfrom the "Jotter"(for the test text window) from thesystem menu. "Activate the Applications and Processes tabs of the Profiler to see an auto-updating list of processes, their PIDs, CPU usage, etc."

    "Flashjazzcat" underlines thatThere are still several pendingsuch as command buttons in the Profiler; options in the Applications menu; and updating the system clock, among others.

    Finally, the author warns that thesystem stillhas not been programmed foralertto the user regarding thelimit of 16 simultaneous processesor that it is beingRunning out of RAM"In the latter case, it will probably just crash," he added.
