Programmer Pawel "Paw" Gugala presented a preview of the port ofTreasure Island Dizzy(Codemasters, 1987), original ZX Spectrum platformer, for Atari 8-bit computers.
"The game is onalmost complete. Several animations are missing and some graphics are a bit sloppy, but that's it.all objects are in their place. They can use them in the right places and even leave the island in a boat," Gugala said in theAtari Online Portal Forum
However, since theproject dates back to 2011, the author estimates that it could befinished in a couple of years. For now, we can download afully functional demo
The protagonist resembles the main character inCrystal Kingdom Dizzyfor Commodore 64; likewise, the upper and lower sections of the screen correspond toTreasure Island Dizzyfor C64.
Some questioned that Dizzy looks a little elongated; however, it must be taken into account that this is a consequence of theAtari resolution - 160 pixels; while other platforms have 256 or more pixels.
It is worth remembering thatGugalaHe is also the author ofDr. Mario, a NES conversion that ranked third on theKaz Kompo 2010 retro contest
