    PONG designer confirmed for Atari Party 2014

    Allan "Al" Alcorn, designer of the historic PONG arcade, has confirmed his participation as an exhibitor at theAtari Party 2014, free display of classic Atari systems and games.


    The event, which is going on its wayfifth edition, will be held on SaturdayJune 14thin theSunnyvale Public Library(USA) Californian town located in theheart of silicon valleyand that it was for a long time the "home" ofAtari, Inc. and Atari Corporation

    Alcorn was thethird employeefrom the iconic video game company. In1972, designed PONG under the orders of theAtari founders Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney. "Al" will lecture on thecreation of PONG,considered the pioneering product in mass-promoting the popularity of video games.

    "Like most early arcade games, PONG did not use a microprocessor (...) Nor did it produce pixel graphics; all objects on the screen were generated by the timing circuits used to encode the video signal," notes the Atari Party website.



    Bill "Davis" Kendrickis the organizer of the contest, which for four years has brought together a large number ofgroup of collectorsthat offer their systems so that theattendees can play for free

    Platforms include theclassic Atari 2600 and 5200 consolesAtari Jaguar and Lynx, until the recent onesAtari Flashbacks. Likewise, they will be available600XL, 800XL, and 1200XL series computers; in addition to 16-bit models such as theAtari ST

    Another exhibitor, to be confirmed, isDan Kramerwho worked for Atari Atari, Inc. between 1980 and 1984. His main contribution was the creation of thetrack-ball type controlsfor theAtari 2600 console and XL/XE series computers. He also participated in different projects such as theunprecedented holographic system "Cosmos"
