Centron 3D is the title of the video game that the companyRPC Games(Australia) is developing for the Atari 8-bit computers and will launch before the second half of 2014.
This week the following were published:First images of the future gamethrough theAtariAge Forum. On the title screen you can seeAn astronaut and a DeLorean carwith the door open. Perhaps a reference to the"Back to Future" film series
Pete, administrator ofRPC Games, claims that the graphics were achieved byCMODE, a software created specifically for the realization ofCentron 3D"The CMODE alone took a week to complete, in pure 6502. And the pixel editor itself took another week. The editor is programmed in BASIC and 6502," he said.
He also assured that the final game can be run onany XL/XE series computerwith at least 64k RAM and a floppy disk drive. "The game is going to use all the colors on the screen at the same time and at that resolution, even on the game grid. We had to sacrifice resolution for memory. We want it to run on64k machines", Pete stressed.
"We're going to push the 130XE to its limits. We're going to push Antic, GTIA and the 6502 to their limits and write highly optimized 6502 code for the fastest 3D routines we can."
He announced that in the next few days they will upload the video on YouTube.video of a demorecorded from a real 130XE "and not an emulator, to show everyone the real colors and speed of the game."
He also emphasized that Centron 3D will be acommercial grade game"We will put all our effort into the game, especially in the graphics and color depth," he stressed.
Finally, the sale price will beat least 10 Australian dollars, with the possibility of paying through PayPal. The game will be available in5.25" floppy disksand will be able to operate in PAL and NTSC.
