Jump! wins NOMAM 2014 competition

Last weekend the vote was held for theNOMAM 2014, programming proficiency in Atari BASIC and Turbo Basic XL with a maximum of 10 lines of code.
A total of 1,000 participants participated in the competition.40 programs. The unique gameJump!from the programmerLyren "Xuel" Brownwas imposed in thecategory "Standard length"lines of code.
Insecond placewas leftMaze, ofBill Kendrick-who showed up with 10 games. And thethird positionIt was forReapermanwithDodge Racer
Rounding out the list are Escape 10 (fourth place); Carrera, Puzzler Duell, Count1ing Zoo, Fuky Bird (fifth place); Letter Better, Joyas, Sijmen, Squirrel, Minidash, Puzzler 2014, Colfusion, Minijong (ninth place); Abduct10, Bagh Chal, BluesJam, Catch, Grue Killer, Gwobby Micro, Jumpsheep, Nimx, Paddleship, Planets, Shmup, Slice and Zen3D (seventeenth place).
In the"Longest Lines" category(extended), first place went to2047by Paul "Pirx" Kalinowski; in second place was placedRoguelike, by Jakub "ilmenita" Debski; and the third forCave 10by Lyren "Xuel" Brown.
The rest of the list: Atlas TXL (fourth place); Drunk Pistol, Hanged Man, Flappy, Minimalista Guatón (fifth place); Abyss, Crack my luggage and Isol (ninth place).
In 2013, the participants programmed "live" and there were onlysix gamesin contention. This year, however, attendees had the opportunity toTry and choose your three favorite games. Then, 16 of the most voted games with the correct length (ten lines of code) went on to compete separately; and another 8, of greater length, formed the "extended length" category. Then, a sort ofdisposal wheelwhere the jury had to vote between two games.
It should be remembered that this activity was held from April 25 to 27 in the parish hall of the Church of the Trinity of thetown of Lübeck (Germany). NOMAM comes from the phrase “Not Only Marvelous Atari Machinery” (Not Just Wonderful Atari Machinery).
