Loading CAS cassette files into the AtariWinPLus emulator

Reviewing the searches in our Atariteca, we discovered some queries about how to load cassette files, which the AtariWinPLus emulator recognizes with the CAS extension ofatari image tapeand were created by Ernest R. Schreurs.

There are two methods. The first one: Let's go to "insert" a cassette in program. For that, go to the routeAtari -> Tape recorder

In the next screen, we must press the buttonBrowse

We located thearchivethat we want to load. In this example, it will be the gameAirwolf(Elite, 1985).

We confirm that the cassette has been "inserted". We press the buttonOk

At first glance, it might seem like we haven't done anything. However, Atari 8-bit tape users will remember that loading them required aresetand hold the keyOption. Well, that's exactly what we'll do: pressShift+F5for thereset; and immediately, hold down theF2 (Option) key

Just like the good old days, you'll see the screen turn blue and heartwo beeps. Now press thespace bar, so that the emulator starts to "load" the cassette.

Don't think that the loading will be done in real time. In the emulator, the process is summarized in a couple of beeps.

For the nostalgic, I leave youa videoas an example. Pay attention (and emotion) to thesounds when loading tape

Hesecond methodIt is simpler and serves for thedifferent types of Atari files: press the keysAlt+Bto activate the " modeautoboot" (please, it has nothing to do with Transformers).Choosethe file you want to upload and pressOk. The emulator will load the file andIt will reset itself

Once we havefinishedto load the cassette, it is recommended "take it apart". Forexpelthe tape, we go back to the routeAtari -> Tape recorder, and we press the button that saysEject

You may have noticed that on the screen where we loaded the cassette there wereadditional controlsWell, the emulator allows youfast forward and rewind the tape. According to what I read in the program's documentation, "usually these images only contain one Atari file - although real cassettes often had several."

Finally, for some reasonI don't know the formula for loading the cassette from the road.File -> Attach tapedoesn't work in my case.

Once I choose the file to load, the emulator simply "hanging"I will try to find out the reason.
