Another interesting feature of version 4.0 of the Atari800Win PLus emulator is the ability to add unlimited lives to some Atari 8-bit games.
As Frantisek "Fandal" Houra (Poland) explained to us, the emulator "freezesmemory addressesmemory address) in the program that are used forsave the livess, energy or similar.
In practice, the process for giving a game infinite lives involves: identifying how many lives the game starts with; locating the corresponding memory address; and "freezing" that address so that you don't continue losing lives.
The best thing of all is that, once this is done,We can recordthe gamemodified. Then we will say that we have atrainer file(trained file) of the game, withinfinite lives
We already created thePanther trainerMastertronic, 1988). As an example, we will explain step by step how to create the trainer file for the ultra classicArkanoidTaito, 1987
First, load the game. We see that we started the game withfour (4) lives. Enter the routeMisc -> Cheat Options

Once there, we go to the fieldMemoand press it. In the menu, we choose thevalue 4. Then, we press the buttonSearchand on the menuWe selected 3. Why three? Because it is thenext lower valuewhen we lose a life. We press theOk button

Now we play untillose a life. When that happens, we return to the menuMisc -> Cheat Options. We press the buttonSearchto locate the memory address that contains thelife counter

In the specific case of Arkanoid, it is the value$31F4We mark the boxthat appears on your left. Next, press the buttonLock in, we chose thevalue 4and we pressOk. Voila! We already have theArkanoid trainer file
If we wantrecord it, in the same window where we created the file, we press the buttonSaveBy the way, the files will be recorded with the.a8t extensionofAtari trainer information

And the next time we want to use it, to avoid the process of recreating it, in the same Cheat Options window, we press the buttonLoad. It doesn't matter if you lost lives before. Everything returns to the top.

This method is practically universal; except for the particular life count - which is different in each game. Likewise, this feature of the emulatorIt works mostlywith those games thatuse system charactersto count lives. In other cases - where graphics or signs are used - the trick usually does not work.
In any case, I leave you thislink of the atarian Flywhere he shares dozens of trainer files, including highly requested ones fromMontezumaeither Preliminary Monthyand ofMontezuma´s Revengewith infinite lives.
