After some failed experiments, I discovered a way to load games with more than one disc in the Atari800Win PLus 2.7 emulator.
The truth is, the method is exactly as if we were using afloppy disk drive(disk drive)Atari1050-that is, it will require a lot of patience...
For this example we are going to load theROMSfrom one of my favorite games:Alternate Reality. In theAtari 8-bit, the game came intwo (2) disks/floppy disksdouble-sided. Well, in the emulated version, we havefour files; on this occasion, in.xfd format
Where:
Alternate Reality (s1).xfdis equivalent todisc 1 side 1
Alternate Reality (s2).xfdis equivalent todisc 1 side 2
Alternate Reality (s3).xfdis equivalent todisc 2 side 1
Alternate Reality (s4).xfdis equivalent todisc 2 side 2
Step 1.-We load the first file. Go to the menuFile; then choose the optionAttach disk. Then selectDrive 1. In the window, selectAlternate Reality (s1).xfd
In the particular case of this game, we will be askedcreateaidentity. After that process, we pressF4which is equal to the keyStartfrom Atari.
Step 2.-After a few screens -which inAlternate RealityThey go overboard with thespace bar- the game will ask usinsert disc 1, side 2
As with thefirst file, go to the menuFile; then choose the optionAttach disk. Then selectDrive 1. In the window, selectAlternate Reality (s2).xfd
Then pressF4 (Start)
He will keep asking us for disks. And we keep loading them...
Step 3.-After a few seconds, the game itself begins.
At some point,Alternate RealityIt will ask you to load theother filesagain. Be patient and proceed as in the previous steps, selecting the corresponding files fromAttach diskand theDrive 1
